Hospital mental health

We provide mental health care to patients in general hospital wards.

Hospital Mental Health will see you if you are:

A current patient in any ward at Austin Health (excluding the psychiatric units)
A patient with ongoing treatment provided by Austin Health

Hospital Mental Health care is provided by Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.

Our Consultation Liaison Psychiatry team provide the following services:

Assessment and management of your mental health while you are in a medical or surgical ward
Advice to medical and surgical teams about your mental health needs

We run the following clinic:

Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic - offered for patients who are able to be treated in a community setting

You can be referred to us from all medical, surgical, rehabilitation and specialty units across Austin Health. All referrals are made through Cerner.
