About us
The Hospital Post Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) team is made up of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, wellbeing support workers, family therapist and people with lived experience.
We provide short term (12 week) support and evidence-based interventions targeting the factors that contribute to suicidal thinking and behaviour.
You can use our service if you:
- live in the City of Banyule or the Shire of Nillumbik
- are aged between 18 and 64 years
- are managed by a primary care provider such as a GP
- are willing to engage in a voluntary service.
Our services
We provide a short-term case management service including 12 weeks of assertive, tailored support in the community.
Our interventions include:
- formulation of suicidality and diagnostic assessment
- collaborative safety planning
- medication advice
- brief therapeutic interventions
- supportive counselling.
We also offer practical assistance and supported linkage to services to address stressors or ongoing difficulties.
Our lived experience workers can provide support to both consumers and carers throughout the engagement.

What happens next?
Referrals will be contacted within 24 hours of the referral being made and an initial intake assessment offered within 72 hours.

Our service operates 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm.
