Research

In this section, you can find the following information:

Research is embedded into how we practice medicine at Austin Health.

We have a strong research culture and plan to make it even stronger.

Hospital-based research is highly relevant to our patients, brings the benefits of research quickly into clinical practice, and helps us to recruit highly-engaged staff who are always looking to improve the way we deliver care.

Austin Health is a great place to begin your medical research career. We attract the highest number of Doctor of Medicine Research Program students of the three University of Melbourne teaching hospitals.

The Data Analytics Research and Evaluation (DARE) Centre

The Data Analytics Research and Evaluation (DARE) Centre is an exciting new Austin Health and University of Melbourne collaboration that brings together data scientists and top clinical researchers to study the ‘Big Data' generated by our hospital electronic medical record systems. The DARE Centre is Austin Health's newest research venture, opening in 2018 and publishing its first research paper in the same year - with much more to come.
