Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS)

We provide a specialist diagnostic service for people who are concerned about changes to their memory and thinking. The aim is to ensure a timely diagnosis.

What we do

Our Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS) is a multidisciplinary team of health professionals with expert knowledge and experience including geriatricians, nurses, neurologists, speech pathologists and neuropsychologists.

We provide the following services:

  • expert clinical diagnosis
  • information on appropriate treatments
  • education, support and information
  • direction in planning for the future
  • information about dealing with day-to-day issues
  • linkages for clients and their family to others service providers or community supports.

CDAMS is part of the suite of services provided by the Health Independence Program (HIP).

What to expect

The initial appointment will include an assessment of cognitive and functional status, memory testing and a physical examination.

Clients are encouraged to come with a support person as the Collaborative History is an important part of the assessment.
