For health professionals

We have a proud track record in dementia clinical trials, dating back to 1994.

Who we are

The Medical and Cognitive Research Unit (MCRU), located at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, is the largest dementia clinical trials site in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.

MCRU has a strong and successful history in conducting numerous clinical trials, for various neurodegenerative disorders, with a majority of the trials focusing on Alzheimer’s Disease.

Recently refurbished, the MCRU atmosphere is energetic, friendly, and cohesive, with strong teamwork ethos amongst all staff. The unit is comprised of study coordinators, medical investigators, administrative staff, a recruitment officer, neuropsychologist raters and an ethics officer.

What we provide

The MCRU has the capacity to conduct phase 1 to 4 stage trials with infusion, pathology, neuro-cognitive rating areas and imaging abilities (MRI, PET, CT, Bone Density) as required for all types of clinical trials.
