About us

The Medical and Cognitive Research Unit (MCRU) at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital conducts clinical trials which can assist patients with dementia. It is the largest dementia clinical trials site in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.

Alzheimer's disease clinical trials

Are you concerned about your memory or the memory of a loved one? Have you had a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s disease?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, you may be interested to participate in Alzheimer’s disease or memory research.

We are currrently conducting clinical trials to investigate the safety and effectiveness of medications to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Are you:

  • Aged between 50 - 90 years old
  • Concerned about yourself or a loved one who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or who has memory problems
  • Someone who can access a study partner. A study partner is someone who knows you well and sees you often. Your study partner will need to attend appointments and provide accurate information about your everyday living requirements
  • Fluent in English
