Gastroenterology is a large department that offers a full range of gastroenterology services for patients with all types of digestive, liver and pancreatic diseases.

We provide both medical treatments and surgery.

We are home to the Victorian Liver Transplant Unit.

We also provide endoscopy services to the Endoscopy Unit.

• Rapid Access Hepatitis C Treatment Service
• Liver and intestinal transplants
• Inflammatory bowel disease service, which treats conditiona such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
• Care and treatment for pancreatic and oesophageal diseases
• Care and treatment for Coeliac disease
• Endoscopy procedures to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disease

  We provide liver transplants for people who live in Victoria and Tasmania and intestinal transplants for all of Australia.

• Hepatitis C treatment

  We treat people with Hepatitis C and provide medication free of charge. We cure 95% of people.

• Inflammatory bowel disease

  We care for and treat people’s medical needs associated with inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

• Endoscopy

  We use devices that have a camera on them to look inside your body without performing major surgery.

• Aboriginal health

  We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their family while using hospital services.
