Our Nephrology (Renal) service provides comprehensive, high quality, multi-disciplinary, compassionate and evidence-based care across the range of issues faced by individuals with kidney disease and other conditions that affect or arise from the kidneys.

We accept GP and specialist referrals to this service.

Our services

Dialysis

We provide dialysis services in hospital, in the community and at home.
Renal dietitians

This dietetic service includes nutritional screening, assessment, suitable food provision, education and support for all Austin Health renal inpatients, outpatients and their carers.
Renal social workers

Our renal social workers assist patients, their carers and family adjust to the changes that kidney disease brings, helping them to maintain their quality of life.
Renal supportive care

Renal supportive care is a treatment offered to individuals with end-stage kidney disease if renal replacement therapy (dialysis/transplantation) is very unlikely to improve quality or length of life.
Renal genetics

We facilitate the diagnosis of genetic kidney diseases using evidence-based, modern clinical genomics.
