About us

The Ophthalmology unit is made up of opthalmologists (eye doctors), orthoptists (university-trained eye health professionals), a clinical nurse consultant and clerical staff.

We specialise in the diagnosis and assessment of a wide range of eye problems.

Our services

We provide the following services:

  • Assessments of common eye problems, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy
  • Vision tests
  • Tests to detect and diagnose many eye diseases
  • Assessments of whether you need cataract surgery
  • Eye surgery
  • Clinical trials

Referrals

For patients

You need a referral from your GP, specialist or health care provider to access this service. You will also need a referral from your optometrist.

For health professionals

Our referral form needs to be completed and faxed to Specialist Clinics on 03 9496 2097

For urgent referrals, call Switchboard on 03 9496 5000 and ask for the Ophthalmology Registrar.
