Special advice for patients with a weakened immune system or lung conditions
If you have a chronic lung condition or a weakened immune system, there may be more dust within construction areas. If you have these health conditions, we recommend you wear a mask when near construction areas. If you have concerns, talk to your healthcare team.
Your needs and preferences
Staff can work with you to provide you with individualised treatment and care when you visit or stay at hospital. Examples of this include:
- communicating in a way that meets your preferences
- creating an Autism Care Plan
- specialist beds and hoists.
Support from Disability Liaison
Our Disability Liaison Officers (DLOs) support people with disability, their families and support networks to access:
- Austin Health services and other health and human services
- inpatient and outpatient services
- COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccination
We also provide advice to health care teams to provide safer, accessible, and more inclusive care.
