Volunteering at Austin Health offers relevant and meaningful volunteering opportunities at all Austin Health sites. Volunteers work in partnership with staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.
Volunteers can now be found in many roles across Austin, as well as engaging with the community and working in our community opportunity shops and as Volunteer Drivers.
We are constantly building on our existing program. We aim to be leaders in the field of volunteering as we work to add value to the experience of our patients and their carers.
Austin Health’s Volunteering Program is established in accordance with the National Standards for Volunteering in Australia. All volunteers are required to consent to Police and referee checks, and a Working with Children Check may be required. Most volunteer applicants will be required to provide proof of immunisation.
All Austin Health volunteers have a Volunteer Position Description and a Volunteer Duty Statement, which outlines the duties and responsibilities of the volunteer when they are undertaking their role.
The volunteer program provides volunteers with:
• Volunteer Recognition events
• Training and orientation
• Free car parking
• Volunteer uniforms as appropriate
• On-site Key Support Staff
• Team orientated environment
Please note: Volunteer Services does not offer work experience or work/student placements.
Currently Austin Health recruits volunteers in three cycles across the year.
Any recruitment outside these times will be as needed by specific Austin Health programs.
