This week we are excited to welcome 65 new medical interns as they begin their journey at Austin Health.

These talented individuals have begun internship orientation this week and are set to use their skills and dedication as they move from medical students to junior doctors, with the support of experienced staff.

Throughout the year these interns will rotate through specialities including general medicine, surgery, psychiatry and the Emergency Department, providing them with a wealth of experiences across our health service.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Heidi Gregory expressed her excitement about the commencement of Austin Health’s interns for 2026.

“I am delighted to welcome a new cohort of enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who are joining Austin Health as interns.

Austin Health is an exceptional place to begin a medical career, providing opportunities to learn from and work alongside our wonderful medical, nursing and allied health staff, and train in a variety of areas.

Our interns will benefit from Austin Health’s emphasis on patient care, innovation and staff wellbeing and our dedication to making our health service a great place to learn, work and grow. I wish our interns all the best as they join the team and thank staff for welcoming and supporting them.”
