The podium for Austin Hospital and Mercy Hospital has been partially reopened following renovations.
Staff, patients and members of the community will be able to access the space effective immediately.
Additional works are required to complete the podium in full and is anticipated to be completed by the end of February.
The following areas have reopened:
- Front doors of Austin Hospital and Mercy Hospital
- Pick up and drop off capability on the podium
- External stair access from Studley Rd
- B1 carpark entry from the podium
- Footpaths from the ONJ Centre and Creche to Austin Tower, traffic management will be in place to support pedestrian access between the two locations
Adjoining areas not yet completed will be cordoned off to allow work to continue safely and will remain in place until these are completed.
A reminder to be aware of your surroundings while using this space as construction works continue and take directions when needed.
This project forms part of the broader Podium Improvement Works Project and has been commissioned to increase the level of safety at the front entrance of both hospitals. This will be achieved by moving vehicles further from the facade and creating clear separation from pedestrian pathways. We are also aiming to increase the usability of this space by providing seating options and a playground.
