An apple a day might keep the doctor away but 18,000 hot cross buns are helping to make the staff at Austin Health very happy this Easter!
The good people at Bakers Delight have generously donated 3000 packs of six Hot Cross Buns to say thank you to Austin Health staff for their incredible work, dedication and sacrifice over the last two years.
Austin Health Chief Executive Officer, Adam Horsburgh, thanked Bakers Delight for helping to spread some joy to healthcare workers.
“Our staff have been amazing throughout the whole COVID pandemic and to have their hard work acknowledged by Bakers Delight at Easter is just fantastic,” Adam said.
“Hot Cross Buns are a staple at this time of year and the Bakers Delight buns are absolutely delicious so I know they will be greatly appreciated by our staff and their families.
“On behalf of Austin Health, I’d like to say a big thank you to Head Baker, Luke Farrell, and the rest of the team at Bakers Delight for coming out to share their creations with our staff including the nurses, doctors and allied health staff who will spend the long weekend caring for patients,” he said.
Staff from Bakers Delight were joined by the Easter Bunny and Bakers’ ‘Breadhead’ mascot as they hand out hot cross buns at the different Austin Health sites today.
“Supporting local communities has been part of our DNA for over 40 years, so we are thrilled to be able to bring a little Easter delight to the Austin Health team,” said Elise Gillespie, Bakers Delight Joint CEO.
“The last two years have been incredibly difficult for everyone and especially so for our hospital workers. “This donation is just one small way for us to thank the dedicated staff for everything they have done throughout the pandemic,” she said.
