Emergency Department: Transition to Specialty Practice

Do you have an interest in Emergency nursing? Now is your time to get involved and apply for Austin Health’s Transition to Specialty practice nursing program.

This program is designed to introduce nurses to the emergency care environment. Nurses will attend study days in conjunction with experiential clinical skill development over a 12-month period to equip them with the knowledge and skills required for quality emergency nursing practice.

Concepts explored will include comprehensive patient assessment of adults and paediatrics, introduction to ECG interpretation and high dependency nursing care skills, including non-invasive ventilation and management of invasive monitoring.

Participants will not only develop and demonstrate the capacity to problem solve and think critically in the Emergency Department clinical environment but also demonstrate an alignment of clinical and theoretical knowledge while planning and implementing the care of the patient requiring emergency care.

Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Applications are now open until Friday 12 May.
