- CEO Jodie Geissler and Professor Anne Buist recognised during Australia Day Honours
27 January 2026
We are proud to share that two members of the Austin Health community have been recognised in the 2026 Australia Day Honours.
Our CEO Jodie Geissler has been awarded a Public Service Medal. The award recognises Jodie’s outstanding public service in the health and mental health sectors of Victoria, reflecting more than 20 years of leadership dedicated to improving outcomes for patients, the workforce and the broader community.
Across her career, Jodie has held senior strategic and operational roles, including as CEO of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and as Deputy Secretary, Hospitals and Health Services at the Department of Health. Her work has contributed to significant reform, strengthened system governance, and supported the delivery of care during periods of extraordinary pressure, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout her career, Jodie has focused on collaboration and shared purpose, working closely with colleagues across government, health services and communities. She has consistently highlighted the role of teamwork in delivering lasting improvement across the health system.
We also congratulate Professor Anne Buist, who was awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to psychiatry, advancing best practice in perinatal mental health research and treatment, and to mental health education. Anne worked at Austin Health for over 40 years and continues to contribute in an honorary capacity. Her research, clinical work and teaching have helped shape better care for mothers and families across Victoria and beyond.
We congratulate both Jodie and Anne on these significant and well-deserved honours, recognising their contributions to the health and mental health of the Victorian community.
