16 April 2021
Our Emergency Department (ED) will only be accessible via the Burgundy Street driveway from Monday 19 April until Saturday 24 April.
During this time, you’ll be unable to access our ED from the main Austin Hospital entrance off Studley Rd.
These temporary changes are in place to allow for works to expand the capacity of our ED waiting area and to refurbish the triage area.
What should I do if I need to come to ED during this time?
Patients presenting to ED should be dropped off at our temporary external triage area in the driveway off Burgundy Street.
No parking is available at the front of the triage area so any patients driving themselves to our ED will need to park and make their way to this triage area via Burgundy St.
Where can I park?
Car parking will continue to be available in the main carpark. This carpark can be accessed via Burgundy St and Studley Rd.
Will there be anyone to help direct me?
Traffic management will be in place to guide patients entering via Burgundy St and to provide directions for ED patients presenting to the main entrance to the hospital.
We ask that you follow the signage and directions of traffic management staff.
What’s the reason for these temporary changes?
These temporary changes are in place to allow for works to expand the capacity of our ED waiting area and to refurbish the triage area. This will help create a better experience for patients attending our ED in future.
We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while this important work is being completed.
