Key information for referrers

Referrals to our Chronic Pain Clinic are subject to the Victorian Department of Health's Statewide Referral Criteria (SRC) for public specialist clinics.

These criteria need to be met in the referral for the referral to be accepted.

Distance from Austin Health is not a barrier for clients attending centre-based services, however we encourage referral to the clients nearest service.

Current wait times

The current wait time for this service (from receipt of referral) is between:

  • 3 to 4 months for the introductory group education session
  • 6 to 8 months for individual assessment
