With regreat, we have made the decision to cancel this year's Anzac Day Observance at the Heidelberg Reptriation Hospital for the first time ever. The event had been planned for Friday 24 April.
The health and safety of our community during this time is our highest priority.
Robert Winther, Veteran Liaison, says that we will remember ANZAC Day in a symbolic manner.
"We will still drop the flag to half mast at 8am and raise it back at 12pm, as is the tradition. On the Friday, I will put a beautiful wreath at the flag pole."
"We should all embody the spirit and sentiment in those solemn words: Lest We Forget."
If you have concerns or enquiries, please contact, Robert Winther Veteran Liaison Officer on 03 9496 2324.
Veteran Liaison provides a contact point for veteran enquiries and assistance within Austin Health. Throughout the year Veteran Liaison conducts observance services, tours for veteran groups, and various other activities for the Veteran community.
Two Veteran Liaison Officers, Robert Winther and Siobhan Hodgins, provide the service. The office is located at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, but assists staff and patients across all three campuses within Austin Health. This arrangement is part of the commitment to Veteran Services for the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
