Child Care Centre

About us

The Austin Child Care Centre is a work based child care centre which has been in operation since 1971. It is licensed for 70 places and provides care and education for children from four months of age to school-entry age. The children are divided into five age groups.

The Austin Child Care Centre is committed to providing high quality childcare for the children of staff employed by Austin Health. The Centre believes is positive and co-operative partnerships that foster continuity of care and reflect the daily practices and diverse values of children, families, educators and the wider community. The perceptions and opinions of families and educators are valued and everyone is recognised for the experience, knowledge and expertise they bring. Children are seen as competent and capable and able to participate in the negotiation of their learning and social experiences.

Educators are guided in their practice and decision-making by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia to provide better outcomes for children.

The Centre is also guided by the principles of the National Quality Framework:

  • The rights and best interests of the child are paramount
  • Children are successful, competent and capable learners
  • Equity, inclusion and diversity underpin the Framework
  • Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are valued
  • The role of parents and families is respected and supported
  • Best practice is expected in the provision of education and are services.
