Work experience and structured workplace learning (SWL)

We offer allied health work experience and structured workplace learning (SWL) placements for secondary school students.

Applications for Work Experience or Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) in 2025 are now open.

Austin Health partners with Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) to help coordinate work-based learning opportunities for secondary school students.

This includes:

  • Indigenous Careers in Health placements
  • Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements
  • Work Experience placements

Work-based learning opportunities give students the chance to observe a hospital environment in action and to learn about the diverse jobs available within the health industry.

Student placement is arranged for a 1 block week period from Monday to Friday.
