Work experience and structured workplace learning (SWL)

We offer allied health work experience and structured workplace learning (SWL) placements for secondary school students.

Austin Health partners with Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) to coordinate our workplace learning programs for secondary school students.

This includes:

  • Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) program
  • Work Experience program
  • Indigenous Careers in Health program.

Since 2008, BNLLEN has worked closely with Austin Health staff and to date have supported over 1000 student placements.

Work placements give students the opportunity to observe a workplace in action and to learn about the diverse jobs available within the health industry.

It also assists young people to make decisions about their future study and career paths. SWL also makes an important contribution to study requirements for senior vocational students.
