Austin Health is proud to place over 100 secondary school students on work placement each year. This provides a valuable opportunity to promote health professions to young people, and gives students the chance to observe and learn about careers available in healthcare as they consider their future path.
We partner with Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) to facilitate our placement program and ensure successful placements.
Placements are available in one week blocks only. There are three programs available:
To apply for SWL, please download and complete the SWL / Work Experience Application Form and send to bnwl@bnllen.org.au
To apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Careers Week, please download and complete the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Careers Week Application Form and send to bnwl@bnllen.org.au
Please read all instructions carefully, as incomplete or unreadable (eg. pages, jpg, etc) applications will be returned unprocessed.
Placements are available from early March through to early December, however not all departments are able to offer placements and not all weeks are available. Placements are processed according to date received, providing that application criteria are met.
Please note: Popular weeks book out very early (including school holidays) and all students must be over the age of 15 at the time of their placement. Some departments may request additional application criteria at their discretion.
If you have any further queries regarding placements for secondary students at Austin Health please contact the BNLLEN at bnwl@bnllen.org.au
