Respiratory Clinic and Outreach Service (HIP)
Our clinic provides expert medical diagnosis and treatment for people who are living with a long-term lung disease and other medical conditions.
Our Outreach Service offers support and information to people living at home with chronic lung diseases.
The Respiratory Clinic and Outreach Service (HIP) is part of the suite of services provided by the Health Independence Program (HIP).
After your referral has been received and accepted, you will receive a phone call from a respiratory nurse to determine a suitable date and time for your first appointment with the respiratory doctor. They will also determine if you require any clinical tests prior to this first appointment.
Once the appointment is made, a pharmacist will phone you to discuss any medications you may take. They can contact your chemist if there are any questions.
Your first appointment with the respiratory doctor will likely take up to 45 minutes. Many patients will require more than one appointment.
If you already have a respiratory doctor, you may benefit from a home visit by the respiratory nurse who will offer information, education and supports to help you manage your lung disease.
