Utilising nurses to perform endoscopic procedures: creating better access to healthcare.
The introduction of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program allowed for greater community access to healthcare.
The introduction of Advanced Practice Nurse Endoscopy enables highly trained medical staff to manage and treat more patients, by delegating appropriate cases to highly trained and qualified advanced practice nurses. This in turn allows better access to gastroenterologists and/or colorectal surgeons for complex and advanced endoscopic cases.
