The Family Planning Clinic provides advice, consultation and contraceptive care for women. The clinic offers both medical and surgical methods of abortion (termination of pregnancy).
General gynaecology services are not provided by our Family Planning Service. General gynaecology, obstetrics and neonatal services provided at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
The Family Planning Clinic also provides updates and training to general practitioners (GPs), including in abortion/pregnancy and IUD insertion.
Check with your GP to see if they offer these services, as you may be able to access them in your local community rather than by coming to hospital.
Making an appointment at our weekly outpatient clinic gives you the opportunity to discuss the contraception options that best suit your needs.
Where an implant or hormonal IUD is the best option, you can often have one inserted on the spot during your appointment.
