The Colorectal Surgery Unit at Austin Health performs emergency and elective surgery for patients with bowel conditions. Cases range from minor peri anal procedures to major abdominal bowel resections for cancer.
The unit undertakes a total of approximately 1,400 operations per year and has two outpatient and two preadmission clinics per week. The unit is represented by five Colorectal Surgeons, one Fellow, two Registrars, two Interns, two Stomal Therapy nurses and a Surgical Nurse Coordinator.
