Radial Artery Patency Clinical Outcomes (RAPCO) Study

Principal Investigator: Professor Brian Buxton

Trial Coordinator: Sandra Gerbo RN

This ia a randomised controlled trial to compare the patency of the radial artery (RA) when used as a coronary artery bypass graft with that of the free right internal mammary artery (FRIMA) or the saphenous vein (SV).

The rates of patient survival, and reintervention in the different patient groups are being compared. Graft patency is being assessed by selective coronary angiography and/or cardiac multi-slice CTA of all grafts at randomised time frames within 10 years of surgery. 619 patients are enrolled in the study they are phoned annually with a mean followup of 9.7 years.

11 papers have been published using data from the study to date.
