Outpatient & In-home Services (Ambulatory Care)

The Ambulatory Services programs extend the quality rehabilitation services provided by Royal Talbot into the community. Outpatients, Rehabilitation In The Home (RITH) and Domiciliary Therapy make up Ambulatory Services. The aim of the programs is to provide rehabilitation to patients in their home, community or at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre as required.

Patients and their families will be involved in setting goals for their Rehabilitation Program with a team of health professionals.

  • Outpatients
    These people receive rehabilitation at Royal Talbot. 1-5 attendances per week may be offered.
  • Domiciliary therapy
    These people receive some of their therapy at home and some at Royal Talbot. The frequency of home based therapy and centre based attendance is negotiated between the therapist and patient.
  • Rehabilitation in the home
    These people receive a comprehensive rehabilitation package, that in most instances allows them to return home from hospital early.

Costs

The cost of the Ambulatory Services programs varies depending on how the program is funded and where you are receiving the therapy. For outpatient attendance and Domiciliary therapy there is a service fee of $7 per day. The most that you will pay in any one week is $20.

If you are a health care card holder the fee is $3.50 per day. The most that you will pay in one week is $10.

Referrals external should be faxed to ‘Admissions Services' at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
