Pharmacy staff

The emergency pharmacy team provides and supports the clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 5pm.

A number of duties that they can provide include discharge medication supply, medication education (e.g. Warfarin counselling), drug history taking, proactive medicine management, medication review and rationalisation of Polypharmacy, adverse drug reactions reporting and care coordination for patients requiring transfer to aged care facilities.

They are here to help and support the Emergency Department staff to provide a safe, high quality and consistent approach to pharmacological management for patients.

Simone Taylor

Senior Pharmacist – Emergency Medicine and Research

Simone works part-time as a pharmacist in the Emergency Department and is also involved in developing the pharmacy's research program.  She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in Pittsburgh in 1998 and then undertook a residency in Critical Care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  Simone was Project Manager for a Department of Human Services funded project to evaluate the impact of having a pharmacist in the Emergency Department at the Austin Hospital. With the successful completion of this project in 2003, ongoing funding was secured for two pharmacists to work full-time in the ED.
