Austin Health employees and staff based at the Medical Centre who are paid by approved associated organizations, such as Ludwig, ARI and NSRI, are eligible to access the Austin Child Care Centre. Austin Health employees will have priority of access over those employed by associated organisations. Interested employees must first be placed on the waiting list, which can be downloaded from the Austin Health Intranet (staff only access).
The Austin Child Care Centre operates from 6:45am to 5:55pm, 51 weeks of the year.
The Centre is closed on public holidays and during the Christmas and New Year break.
The Centre is a non-profit organisation and fees are set at a rate to ensure economic viability. They are subject to an annual review by the Committee of Management and are directly debited from wages. Payment may be reduced by receiving the Commonwealth Government Child Care Benefit or pre-tax salary deductions, which is an amount above and beyond the capped amount for FBT benefits available to Austin Health employees.
The Centre provides meals that are age appropriate, nutritious and well balanced. The extensive and variable menu caters to any special dietary needs of babies and children.
Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack are all provided.
The Staffing Profile at the Centre consists of a Manager, Assistant Manager, Early Childhood Professionals, Centre Cook and the Centre’s bank of relieving staff.
We believe in the importance of staff having current knowledge of early childhood development theories about how children learn and knowing the Centre’s position on policies and procedures.
