We know there are clear benefits to the recovery and care of people with a mental illness when carers are:
- informed of the illness and treatment
- involved with mental health professionals providing treatment and care
- supported to manage difficulties when caring for a person with a mental health illness.
Further information for carers can be found in the Mental Health Act 2014 handbook.
The Mental Health Service is committed to the development and provision of ongoing support for carers who support our consumers.
Please see the Carers Can Ask presentation for questions that may help carers who wish to find information on discharge planning and post-discharge support.
