Our direction
Our Strategic Plan 2018-22 provides a clear direction for Austin Health for the next five years. It describes three focus areas that we'll pursue to achieve our vision of "Shaping the future through exceptional, care discovery and learning'.
- Partnerships: We'll partner with consumers to create a distinct approach to care that's reliable, safe and puts the patient at the centre, and we'll collaborate with local partners to improve the lives of people in our community.
- Transformation: We'll transform our digital environment by investing in new and emerging technologies and creating a centre for health data analytics.
- Growth: We'll advance the research and learning precinct in Melbourne's north-east, grow our delivery of specialised care in regional and state-wide services, and invest in building the capability of our people.

Who we are
We're renowned for our specialist work in cancer, infectious diseases, obesity, sleep medicine, intensive care medicine, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation, and we're an internationally recognised centre of excellence in hospital-based research.
We're also the largest Victorian provider of training for specialist physicians and surgeons.
Last financial year we completed 114,940 inpatient admissions, 87,556 emergency attendances, and 28,099 surgical procedures. Our researchers undertook 294 clinical trials.

Research
In collaboration with our affiliated research centres and partnerships we deliver ground-breaking discoveries that benefit patients worldwide.
Austin LifeSciences brings together almost 1,000 researchers and a number of research institutes in partnership with University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and the Mercy Hospital for Women to achieve ongoing excellence in research and better health outcomes for our local, national and international communities.
