Ethics Review Manager (ERM)

The new Ethics Review Manager (ERM) has been implemented within Victoria.

Researchers are now required to submit all New Research Applications and Post Approval Applications via the ERM website - excluding Audit and Quality Improvement Applications and Clinical Database and Database Application Submissions.

Please refer to relevant sections on the website for details on additional requirements and documentation to support your applications (including relevant Departmental sign-off, if required).

Please refer to the ERM User Guides (see below) developed by the Austin Health Office for Research to assist in the transition to the new ERM system.

Applicant User Guide to ERM (DHHS)

The DHHS Applicant User Guide to ERM is now available on the Clinical Trials and Research website. This comprehensive guide assists research applicants to:

  • Generate, complete and submit application forms
  • Distribute information and assign ERM roles to the research team
  • Respond to an information request from the research office
  • Manage post-approval forms.

ERM Signatures and Submission Guidance is also available on the website. This two-page quick guide provides step by step instructions for signatories and those submitting an application form.

The above documents are designed specifically for research applicants submitting applications in Victoria, including those in the National Mutual Acceptance (NMA) initiative.
