Dr Brendan Murphy
Dr Brendan Murphy commenced as CEO of Austin Health in January 2005.
He held previous posts as Chief Medical Officer, Director of Nephrology at St Vincent’s Health. He is currently Chair of the Health Service Management Innovation Council and a Board Member of the Florey Neuroscience Institutes.
He is a Professorial Fellow with the title of Professor at Melbourne University, a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr John Ferguson
Dr John Ferguson commenced as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in November 2008 following his return to Australia after two years in Kuwait as the CMO for a project to develop two new hospitals and three new clinics. Prior to this John was Executive Director of Medical Services at both Ballarat Health Services (2004-2006) and Bendigo Health Care (1994-2004).
John originally graduated from the University of Queensland and spent the first 12 years of his career in clinical medicine, including 6 years in rural general practice and two years in emergency medicine. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma and a Masters in Health Services Management and has been involved in various aspects of medical management in Victoria since 1990, including membership of several governmental committees and the Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria.
Executive Director, Strategy, Quality and Service Redesign
Ms Fiona Webster
Fiona Webster was appointed Executive Director of Strategy, Quality and Service Redesign in 2008. She has more than 20 years experience in the health sector in direct service provision, health policy, service planning and performance roles, most recently as as Executive Director Strategy, Performance and Planning at Southern Health.
Fiona worked in management in the then Department of Human Services in health promotion, casemix development and service planning. She ran a successful health planning consultancy business for a number of years which provided service planning expertise to metropolitan and rural health care services, held a senior management post in Britain's NHS.
She holds both a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health.
Executive Director, Ambulatory and Nursing Services
Ms Ann Maree Keenan
Ann Maree Keenan was appointed Executive Director of Ambulatory and Nursing Services in May 2005. She was previously the Deputy Director of Ambulatory and Nursing Services. Previously, Ann Maree worked in various nursing roles including Clinical Nurse Consultant in Infection Control, Project Officer, Nurse Teacher and Nurse Unit Manager.
Ann Maree holds graduate qualifications in nursing administration and other post-basic qualifications in renal nursing.
Executive Director, Acute Operations
Mr Mark Petty
Mark Petty was appointed Executive Director of Acute Operations in 2005. He was previously Executive Director of Ambulatory and Nursing Services and prior to that appointment, was the Clinical Service Unit Manager for Cancer and Neurosciences. Mark's previous positions included Nurse Consultant, Nurse Lecturer, Nurse Informatics, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Nurse Unit Manager.
Mark has a Master of Health Administration from the University of New South Wales and other tertiary qualifications in nursing administration, intensive care and computer science.
Executive Director, Finance
Mr Ian Broadway
Ian Broadway became Executive Director of Finance in 2005, after three years at WorkCover. He has also worked at the Auditor General’s Office and was Chief Finance Officer at North Western Health Care Network. His varied career includes a variety of posts in the private sector.
Ian’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and post-graduate qualifications in accounting.
Executive Director, Human Resources and Infrastructure
Mr Michael McDowell
Michael McDowell was appointed Executive Director, Infrastructure and Commercial Services in 2007. In 2010, the position was expanded to Executive Director, Human Resources and Infrastructure. Michael has had considerable experience in senior roles in both the public and private health sectors, both in corporate services/infrastructure and in general management. Most recently, he has been Acting CEO of Freemason's Hospital and his last public hospital role was as General Manager of the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
