Health Information Services manages patient information relating to patient care. Services provided included:
Medical Record Management
  • Management of the Scanned Medical Record
  • Maintenance and retrieval of (old paper) medical records
  • Management of paper and electronic forms 
  • Management of health information policies, eg. patient privacy, patient registration, record access
  • Provide medical records for auditing and research purposes
Transcription
  • Typing of Specialist Clinic letters and operation reports
Information Release
  • Release of information to external health care providers for ongoing patient care
  • Access to records under the Freedom of Information Act
  • Provide subpoenaed medical records to court
Clinical Coding & Patient Data
  • Coding of inpatient records using ICD-10-AM
  • Provide casemix and DRG data to management and clinical units
  • Auditing of Casemix data to ensure optimal funding for inpatient activity
  • Data maintenance and reporting of patient information to the Department of Health
  • Reporting of cancers to the Victorian Cancer Registry
